LICENSING APPLICATIONS

Change of Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS)

If your premises licence authorises the sale of alcohol, it is a legal requirement to have a Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS) named on it. The DPS is responsible for the day-to-day management of alcohol sales and must hold a personal licence. Typically, the DPS is the business owner or an individual in a managerial role, although this is not always the case.

Without a DPS named on the premises licence, a business is prohibited from selling alcohol. Any changes to the DPS must be addressed promptly to avoid any disruption to the business.

If you are appointed as a DPS, or if you are managing a change of DPS at your premises, it is necessary to apply for a variation of the premises licence to include the new appointee. This application should be submitted before the change takes effect, although it can be made for immediate implementation. The incoming DPS is also required to sign a consent form endorsing the application. I will manage the entire process on your behalf, ensuring a smooth transition from the former DPS to the new one.
